I have really strong opinions on OKR cadence: review progress weekly otherwise it's just a post-mortem.
I've been looking for different ways to explain why and the perfect metaphor came during a chat with Joanna Thirkettle from There Be Giants. Doing OKRs monthly is like driving in a new city without a GPS.
Basically, all you can tell is that "we're not there yet".
Doing weekly reviews of progress is like having a (sort of) GPS. It's much easier to see if you've missed a turn, and you can quickly correct the course.
Of course, it's more complex than that. There's still a lot of uncertainty with OKRs. But the general idea is still correct. You 100% need a system that can tell you super quickly that you took a wrong turn.
